About Us

Mommy Meeting is a welcoming organization dedicated to supporting Moms both in and out of the home with a business. We organize a child friendly venue that supports mothers both personally and professionally by providing Networking time for their business along with a safe environment for their children to enjoy and look forward to.

In 2006, Founders Roxanne, Lisa and Daniela were frustrated with traditional networking opportunities for mothers. Many events were held at inconvenient times or were not child friendly.

Being a Mother and a business owner can be a challenging undertaking at best. Traditional networking venues that focused only on collecting contacts did not prove to be the most helpful for the moms. All three women yearned for social and professional connections with other moms that had businesses. They all experienced feelings of guilt, regret and frustration at leaving their children at home for another night while they were trying to grow their business. They realized that there was a need in the community for a group to support them as mothers and business owners, thus, Mommy meeting was born.

With God’s help and a supportive sponsor, Mommy Meeting was launched in early 2007. As we continue to grow and meet mothers from all kinds of backgrounds we are encouraged that there is a need for meaningful connections and challenges that Mommy Meeting can help support. We encourage you to join us for a meeting in your area and enjoy hearing your child say to you, “Mommy when are we going back to the Mommy Meeting again?” Your business and family will thank you for it!

Lisa Akers

Founder

Lisa is a wife and mother of two who is committed to bringing families closer together through handcrafts. She believes the power of connection starts at home and expands through every aspect of our lives. As she teaches in her classes, the simple act of knitting or crocheting a fabric together strengthens the bond between generations, opens a space for sharing common interests, and enables us to make connections with others that are powerful and meaningful. Lisa has expanded this philosophy into her business relationships and uses the power of connection in linking people together to create vibrant synergies. As a businesswoman, she is committed to helping others succeed by enabling them to find the resources they need to achieve their goals. Lisa is the owner of and lead instructor at Be Still & Knit, a Denver-based fiber arts learning center.
